Community Development Projects

Over the past decade SNA has been involved in development projects in previously disadvantaged communities in accordance with the latest government policies.

Such programmes have included the following:

  • Structural Joint Ventures
  • Community based projects
  • Development of SMME contractors
  • Labour intensive construction and task  based payment system
  • Training of participants
    • SAFCEC/CEITS Accredited courses
    • Contractor development courses
    • Adult basic education and training (ABET)
  • Community education assistance
  • Bursaries for university and technician students
  • Sponsorships of pupils at leading secondary schools

Project in excess of R100 million have been undertaken in previously disadvantaged communities.  Contract documentation incorporates structured joint ventures in line with the Government’s latest targeted procurement policies for the development of affirmable business enterprises. 

Provision has been made for the engagement of local communities in task work programmes, community based construction and SMME development in accordance with the national framework agreement.
